A primer on the rarity tiers

CONCLAVE sorts relics into five ascending tiers. Common relics circulate widely and change hands often. Collectible relics have begun to thin out — still findable, but no longer everywhere. Prized relics are genuinely sought, their supply outpaced by demand. Exalted relics are scarce enough that a collector remembers where each one went. And Grail relics are the treasures a sanctum is built around — the rarest station a relic can hold.

The tiers give you the band, but the rarity index gives you the precision. A relic near the top of Prized behaves very differently from one barely into the tier, even though both wear the same name. The 0-to-100 index the Oracle returns is what separates them, placing each relic exactly within its station rather than lumping it with its neighbours.

This is what makes label-blind pricing dangerous on the wrong relic. A verdict that reads only the broad category treats every example alike, so a Grail-tier treasure can be listed far below its worth by a seller who never looked past the name. Conversely, an ordinary relic dressed up in fine presentation can look grander than its station deserves.

A useful reading therefore has to know which tier a relic truly belongs to and weigh it accordingly. That is why the Oracle returns both the tier and the index — so that on the relics where scarcity carries the value, the verdict reflects it, and on the relics where it does not, the reading stays honest about that too.
